Horseback riding at Korannabergadventures
If I where to fall of this horse, I would have stuck to the ground like a blob of margarine to a kitchen floor. No amount of horse whispering could get this pretty lady on a gallop.
Leonie dubbed her Seabiscuit.

"O love, be moderate, allay they ecstasy,
In measure rain thy joy, scant this excess!
I feel too much thy blessing, make it less,
For fear I surfeit!"
Roughly translated: Too much love, too much joy, please I can't take it anymore.
Shakespeare sure had a way with words, but I think if he had the first photo in this post he may have replaced the above extract with it.
Johanna en Herman, julle is great, dis nice om twee mense so gelukkig saam te sien. Alle voorspoed.

First Impressions

I got a phone call from Oom Piet Gouws to come and see him regarding wedding photos for his son Alleck and fiancé Marie. Now I've been to a few of these before but didn't expect oom Piet to be on the couch, with FHM-like posture and without a shirt.
Nonetheless, the consultation went well and a few months later I photographed the wedding. Oom Piet, impressing with a matching outfit to that of Alleck was overwhelmed with pride in his newfound daughter in law. Right after signing the register he took her by the hand and could but gaze at her with joy. Weddings are always jam-packed with emotion, but his expression in that moment was so genuine and tangible he became an instant favorite.
A while later I phoned Marie to make arrangements to either collect something or drop something off(can’t remember exactly) and with great disappointment I learned that Oom Piet passed away from a heart attack only a couple of days earlier.
My heart went out to them, just married and then losing a parent, life can dish out some hard blows. The flip side though is a little honeymoon baby on his/her way (no, he’s not being reincarnated), something to lift the spirits in a time of mourning.
So… here’s to Oom Piet, I’m sure he is missed greatly and to a new life with many first impressions still to be made.

For various reasons I wanted to redesign the site and get this blog going. For those reading, this is my very first post and nothing better to kick it off with than the wedding of Tammy & Brendan.
Applause go out to Tammy and her family(especially mom) for the friendly reception at Franklin View, they made me and Leonie feel right at ease with their big smiles and heartfelt hospitality.
As far as melting camera lenses go, this is probably the closest I ever got due to sheer amount of photos taken. This lot know how to look good and how to party properly, all in good taste of course.
T&B, congrats on a stunning wedding, Oliewenhuis was the perfect setting for a wedding that will stay with me for a long time as a definite favorite!
Bliss!
